With exposed brick, high backed booths and vaulted ceilings Danny’s has some of the old time grandeur that can now be hard to find on Venice Beach.

A popular tourist stop in in the early 1920s, it has maintained that feel and aura and includes among its treasures a Venetian Mardi-Gras mask, an original gondola from 1904 (said to be the last) and a ton of fantastic art. Among the pieces are some from Dennis Hopper, Ed Ruscha, and most notably a mural by Rip Cronk entitled “Hobnobbing in Venice. ” Cronk is also responsible for the Jim Morrison mural.

Update: Unfortunately, Danny’s closed in 2016, per their Facebook page.
