Sugarcane has grown on the Hawaiian islands since seafaring voyagers brought the stalks with them more than a millennia ago. Today, this “grass to glass” distillery produces rums exclusively made from different heirloom varieties of locally grown sugarcane. In contrast to most mass-produced commercial rums, which are typically made with bulk molasses, the Kō Hana Hawaiian Agricole Rum is startlingly complex.

All ingredients used to produce their rums are grown on their property, with the exception of the honey and cacao used for one of their specialty rums. What makes a visit here so special are the regular tours of both the resting warehouse and the estate farm. In addition to various white and aged rums, visitors will get to taste raw, freshly cut sugarcane. Be sure to pick up one of their rich, boozy rum cakes as a souvenir at the gift shop.
